Folic Acid is a B vitamin that works with B12 for healthy red blood cell formation. Folic Acid is important not only for transporting oxygen but also protecting against neural tube defects in fetuses. The US Preventive Services Task Force recommends that all women planning or capable of pregnancy take a daily supplement containing 400 - 800 mcg of folic acid. A clinical study done on fertility issues shows that men with diets low in Folic Acid have more problems conceiving than men who have proper supplementation. Folic Acid is an extremely important supplement to take for reproductive issues and to help with fortifying red blood cell production.
